Dr. Thomas Manjooran

Dr. Thomas Manjooran is a distinguished and influential figure in the field of dentistry, whose illustrious career has left an enduring impact on dental education and research. As the former Dean of the esteemed Kerala University of Health Sciences, he managed all aspects related to 25 dental colleges affiliated with the University, ensuring the highest standards of academic excellence.

During his tenure as Dean, Dr. Manjooran led the development of cutting-edge curricula for BDS and MDS courses, meticulously implementing syllabus modifications to optimize learning outcomes. Recognizing the significance of fostering talented faculty, he introduced innovative initiatives, including workshops aimed at enhancing the teaching faculty's academic skills. These efforts resulted in the transformation of educators and promoted a culture of timely evaluation, fostering a thriving learning environment.

Aside from his role as Dean, Dr. Manjooran held pivotal positions within the Kerala University of Health Sciences, such as being a key member of the Senate, Board of Examinations, Standing Committee to VC, and Academic Council. His visionary contributions have significantly shaped the university's policies and academic direction.

Currently serving as a Professor, Head, and Postgraduate Guide of Pedodontics at PSM College of Dental Science & Research in Thrissur district, Dr. Manjooran's expertise and passion for teaching have inspired countless students to excel in the field of dentistry.

A true academic trailblazer, Dr. Manjooran's journey began with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Bapuji Dental College Davangere, where he secured an impressive 3rd Rank in the University of Mysore. His academic pursuit continued with a Master of Dental Surgery in Paedodontics from the same institution. Later, he demonstrated his commitment to pushing the boundaries of dental research and knowledge by pursuing a Ph.D. from the International University at Graz, Austria.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Manjooran's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his dental office, where he dedicatedly practiced from February 1995 until December 2016. Presently, he also serves as a consultant at various renowned clinics, extending his expertise beyond the academic realm.

Dr. Manjooran's invaluable contributions to dental literature have been recognized with over 100 publications in national and international journals. He has had the honour of presenting papers at esteemed conferences worldwide, including the Michigan Dental Association, USA Upper Peninsula Dental Meeting, and IDS in Cologne. Notably, he was bestowed with the prestigious "Star Pedodontist" title by the Indian Society of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry at the National Conference in Amritsar in 2009. His exceptional accomplishments have also earned him the Louis Marchesi Fellowship and the esteemed opportunity to represent India as a Group Study Exchange member to Wisconsin and Michigan.

As an advocate for the advancement of dental science, Dr. Manjooran has actively conducted continuing medical education programs across the state. His emphasis on the revolutionary concept of "harvesting stem cells from milk teeth" has elevated paediatric dental research and opened new horizons in regenerative medicine. He stays at the forefront of the dental field by actively participating in various continuing dental education programs, ensuring he remains abreast of the latest developments and technologies.

Dr. Manjooran's dedication to giving back to society is evident through his consistent conduct of free Dental Camps in rural areas and schools in India and Colombo, championing oral health and spreading awareness. His efforts extend to conducting Dental Camps for Pope Paul Mercy home, making a positive impact on the lives of the less privileged.

Beyond the realm of dentistry, Dr. Manjooran is a multifaceted individual. Transitioning from dentistry to professional interior design, his journey has been nothing short of remarkable. Drawing on his background as a dentist, Dr. Manjooran developed a unique appreciation for the delicate balance between artistic expression and practicality in design. His transformative abilities have led to opportunities in designing and restoring various spaces, including resorts, temples, police stations, corporate offices, dental offices, container homes, pools, schools, banquet halls, godowns, lobbies, and auditoriums, as well as homes. Some of his creations and restorations have received immense appreciation in the print and visual media, with the restoration of the facade of Koodalmanikam temple in Iranjalakuda standing as a testimony to his exceptional work.
